Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions about our clinic? Our FAQ section provides answers to common inquiries, helping you understand our services, what to expect, and how we can support your pelvic health journey.
What can I expect during my first visit?
Your first visit will include a full comprehensive evaluation. Your Pelvic Floor Specialist will take time to listen to you and fully assess your needs. They will then perform a head-to-toe evaluation to understand how your whole body is working together. If appropriate — and always with your consent — your therapist may recommend an internal pelvic floor exam, which will be fully explained beforehand.

All treatment sessions take place in private treatment rooms.
What conditions do you treat?
We treat a wide range of pelvic floor conditions and related orthopedic concerns, including pelvic pain, bladder or bowel symptoms, pregnancy and postpartum concerns, and complex or persistent pain patterns.

What if I’ve tried another pelvic PT, regular physical therapy, or chiropractic care and didn’t improve?
This is more common than people realize — and it does not mean your condition is untreatable. Many patients come to Auria after trying other approaches and experience meaningful improvement with a different framework of care.
Why this can happen
Pelvic and persistent pain symptoms often don’t resolve when care focuses on one area at a time. Even high-quality care can fall short if it doesn’t fully account for:
-
How the pelvic floor integrates with the spine, hips, diaphragm, and feet
-
Nervous system sensitivity, guarding, or protection patterns that maintain symptoms
-
Subtle issues with breathing, pressure management, posture, and movement habits
-
The impact of past injuries, surgeries, birth experiences, or ongoing stress
How Auria approaches care differently
At Auria, we don’t treat the pelvis as an isolated region — we assess and treat the whole system. Care is tailored to how your body is functioning and adapting, not a preset protocol.

This may include:
-
Whole-body assessment to understand root contributors
-
Nervous-system-informed treatment, not just strengthening or alignment
-
Integration of movement, breathing, and daily habits into care
-
Ongoing adjustment of the plan based on your response, not a fixed timeline
What this means for you
If therapy or chiropractic care didn’t help before, it often means the right framework hasn’t been applied yet — not that your body can’t improve.

Many patients come to Auria after trying other approaches and finally feel understood, supported, and guided toward meaningful, lasting change.
How long does each session last, and how many sessions will I need?
Each session typically lasts an hour. The number of sessions needed varies depending on your condition and progress. At your initial evaluation, your therapist will create a personalized action plan just for you and address any questions or concerns that you may have. Plans are always individualized and adjusted as your body responds to care.
Can you help me if I’m only in Los Angeles for a few weeks or a few months?
Yes — we regularly work with patients who are visiting Los Angeles for a short period of time, including those traveling from other states or internationally. Many people come specifically to Los Angeles for specialized care, and we are accustomed to working within limited timeframes.

When time is limited, our focus is on high-impact care: identifying key drivers of your symptoms, reducing pain or dysfunction efficiently, and giving you clear guidance you can take with you.
How short-term care works at Auria
For patients with a limited stay, care may include:
-
A thorough, whole-body evaluation to identify primary contributors
-
Targeted, hands-on treatment to reduce symptoms and improve function
-
Clear home strategies and movement guidance tailored to your body
-
Coordination or recommendations for continued care once you return home, if needed

What to expect
While every body responds differently, many short-term patients leave with:
-
Greater understanding of why their symptoms are occurring
-
Meaningful symptom relief or improved function
-
A clear plan for continuing progress independently or with a provider at home
Even if you’re only here briefly, starting care can be valuable — especially when the goal is clarity, momentum, and direction rather than committing to a long-term protocol before understanding what your body needs..
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No, you don't need a referral from a physician. We can address pelvic floor concerns alongside related orthopedic issues in the same session, without needing a separate referral for each symptom.
