Understanding Painful Sex

Pain during sex is different for everyone. For some, it's an occasional annoyance, while for others, it's a constant companion. And here's the thing: it's not your fault, and you're definitely not alone. Painful intercourse is way more common than you might think, but that doesn't mean it's normal. In fact, it could be a sign of a deeper issue that needs addressing.

What Causes Pain During Sex?

There's a myriad of reasons why sex might be causing you discomfort. It could be down to something as simple as vaginal dryness, particularly for those going through menopause. Or perhaps your pelvic floor muscles are wound tighter than a drum, making any kind of penetration feel like a battle. Then there's interstitial cystitis, infections, or even psychological factors like stress and anxiety playing havoc with your body's response to pleasure.

How to Tackle Pain During Intercourse

The good news? There are ways to tackle pelvic pain head-on. But we get it; seeking help can feel daunting. Rest assured, though, your pain is absolutely treatable. Our Pelvic Health Specialists are here to guide you through every step of the process.
